'NBA 2K18' All-Time Team Analysis: Biggest Omissions, Eye-Popping Inclusions And Editing Options

Following
This article is more than 6 years old.

On Wednesday, NBA 2K released the entire rosters for every one of the game's 30 All-Time teams in NBA 2K18. These rosters are a massive conversation piece for 2K fans and hoops heads overall.

Credit: 2K

This is a concept I've manually created for the past three years using my Franchise Player Value Rating, and it's great to see 2K include it in this year's game.

I'm going to take a look at each team and pinpoint the biggest omissions (offering my best explanation for some of the absences), the eye-popping inclusions (offering my best explanation for their presence) and even discussing my intentions to edit and create my own version using this as a base.

Yes, that's correct, the all-time rosters are fully editable. In short, you can customize the rosters the way you want and that includes creating players and adding them to any team. I'll still be creating my fourth version of the Ultimate Legends Roster. This new feature has only made the task easier.

The players who are listed in bold are eye-popping inclusions and I'll talk about the players I believe are missing below the chart.

Philadelphia 76ers

76ers OVR First Last Starting
All-Time PHI 97 Allen Iverson Starter
All-Time PHI 90 Hal Greer Starter
All-Time PHI 94 Julius Erving Starter
All-Time PHI 91 Billy Cunningham Starter
All-Time PHI 93 Wilt Chamberlain Starter
All-Time PHI 87 Andre Iguodala
All-Time PHI 87 Hersey Hawkins
All-Time PHI 87 George McGinnis
All-Time PHI 87 Doug Collins
All-Time PHI 86 Joel Embiid
All-Time PHI 86 Maurice Cheeks
All-Time PHI 84 Jrue Holiday
All-Time PHI 83 Darryl Dawkins
All-Time PHI 82 Henry Bibby
All-Time PHI 80 Aaron McKie

Biggest Omissions: Charles Barkley, Dolph Schayes, Chet Walker, Moses Malone

Obviously Sir Charles still can't come to an agreement with 2K. Thus he isn't here or with Phoenix. Schayes is an old-timer, but he is the most accomplished player in team history. Moses Malone was one of the best centers in history and he helped lead the Sixers to a championship in 1983. There has to be an issue with licensing, because he's not with the all-time Rockets either.

Eye-Popping Inclusions:

Joel Embiid has played a total of 31 games, so it's impossible he deserves to be on any all-time team. That said, he is a member of Team 2K, and if the teams are based on the most talented players to ever wear an organization's uniform, then perhaps The Process has a case.

Jrue Holiday did make an All-Star team with the 76ers, but his four-year stint doesn't seem worthy of a spot on the all-time team.

Milwaukee Bucks

All-Time MIL 94 Oscar Robertson Starter
All-Time MIL 93 Sidney Moncrief Starter
All-Time MIL 90 Ray Allen Starter
All-Time MIL 88 Bob Dandridge Starter
All-Time MIL 99 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Starter
All-Time MIL 90 Giannis Antetokounmpo
All-Time MIL 88 Michael Redd
All-Time MIL 87 Vin Baker
All-Time MIL 87 Terry Cummings
All-Time MIL 85 Paul Pressey
All-Time MIL 85 Jon McGlocklin
All-Time MIL 84 Bob Lanier
All-Time MIL 84 Ricky Pierce
All-Time MIL 83 Brandon Jennings
All-Time MIL 83 Andrew Bogut

Biggest Omissions: Glenn Robinson, Marques Johnson

Both Big Dog and MJ averaged 21 points per game in a Bucks uniform. Robinson was the No. 1 pick overall in the 1994 draft and played eight years for Milwaukee while Johnson played seven years for the Bucks.

Chicago Bulls

All-Time CHI 94 Derrick Rose Starter
All-Time CHI 99 Michael Jordan Starter
All-Time CHI 96 Scottie Pippen Starter
All-Time CHI 93 Dennis Rodman Starter
All-Time CHI 93 Artis Gilmore Starter
All-Time CHI 90 Jimmy Butler
All-Time CHI 89 Jerry Sloan
All-Time CHI 88 Bob Love
All-Time CHI 87 Joakim Noah
All-Time CHI 86 Luol Deng
All-Time CHI 85 B.J. Armstrong
All-Time CHI 85 Toni Kukoc
All-Time CHI 85 Horace Grant
All-Time CHI 84 Charles Oakley
All-Time CHI 81 Steve Kerr

Biggest Omission: Chet Walker and Norm Van Lier

Credit: Manny Millan (Getty)

Van Lier was an excellent defender and all-around contributor for the Bulls in the mid 70s. He's one of the organization's most beloved alumni.

Cleveland Cavaliers

All-Time CLE 91 Mark Price Starter
All-Time CLE 91 Kyrie Irving Starter
All-Time CLE 99 LeBron James Starter
All-Time CLE 89 Brad Daugherty Starter
All-Time CLE 88 Zydrunas Ilgauskas Starter
All-Time CLE 87 Kevin Love
All-Time CLE 87 Larry Nance
All-Time CLE 86 Ron Harper
All-Time CLE 86 Terrell Brandon
All-Time CLE 86 World B. Free
All-Time CLE 86 Campy Russell
All-Time CLE 86 Austin Carr
All-Time CLE 85 Tyrone Hill
All-Time CLE 83 Anderson Varejao
All-Time CLE 82 Craig Ehlo

Biggest Omission: John "Hot Rod" Williams

Williams was a key contributor to the Cavs teams that were a powerhouse in the mid-90s. He passed away in 2015.

Boston Celtics

All-Time BOS 95 Bob Cousy Starter
All-Time BOS 96 John Havlicek Starter
All-Time BOS 94 Paul Pierce Starter
All-Time BOS 98 Larry Bird Starter
All-Time BOS 98 Bill Russell Starter
All-Time BOS 95 Kevin McHale
All-Time BOS 94 Dave Cowens
All-Time BOS 93 Robert Parish
All-Time BOS 92 Sam Jones
All-Time BOS 91 Kevin Garnett
All-Time BOS 89 Isaiah Thomas
All-Time BOS 89 Rajon Rondo
All-Time BOS 88 Ray Allen
All-Time BOS 88 Tom Heinsohn
All-Time BOS 87 Antoine Walker

Biggest Omissions: JoJo White

White is a Hall of Famer, former NBA Finals MVP and he averaged 18.4 points per game as a Celtic.

Eye-Popping Inclusions: Thomas is a beloved player and Walker had a solid run with the team in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but when you consider the history and success this organization has had, it seems like a few more players from championship squads should have been included–namely White.

L.A. Clippers

All-Time LAC 92 Chris Paul Starter
All-Time LAC 86 Corey Maggette Starter
All-Time LAC 94 Bob McAdoo Starter
All-Time LAC 90 Blake Griffin Starter
All-Time LAC 87 DeAndre Jordan Starter
All-Time LAC 88 World B. Free
All-Time LAC 87 Ron Harper
All-Time LAC 86 Danny Manning
All-Time LAC 84 Bill Walton
All-Time LAC 84 Eric Gordon
All-Time LAC 83 J.J. Redick
All-Time LAC 82 Eric Bledsoe
All-Time LAC 82 Quentin Richardson
All-Time LAC 82 Jamal Crawford
All-Time LAC 80 Darius Miles

Biggest Omissions: Randy Smith, Elton Brand and Loy Vaught

I have to think there's an issue with Brand's license. Aside from that, he seems like an obvious choice. Smith played 9 seasons with the organization and scored 17.8 points per game and made two All-Star teams. Vaught was one of the best players on some bad Clippers teams. He spent eight seasons with the franchise.

Eye-Popping Inclusions: Miles might be the biggest head scratcher on any team. He played just two seasons with the Clippers and averaged 9.5 points per game. I have no idea how he made it.

Walton was decent when he played for the Clippers, but he only appeared in 169 games over six seasons.

Memphis Grizzlies

All-Time MEM 87 Mike Conley Starter
All-Time MEM 85 Tony Allen Starter
All-Time MEM 86 Shareef Abdur-Rahim Starter
All-Time MEM 92 Pau Gasol Starter
All-Time MEM 93 Marc Gasol Starter
All-Time MEM 88 Zach Randolph
All-Time MEM 85 Shane Battier
All-Time MEM 85 Mike Bibby
All-Time MEM 84 Jason Williams
All-Time MEM 83 Mike Miller
All-Time MEM 83 Rudy Gay
All-Time MEM 80 Byron Scott
All-Time MEM 80 Greg Anthony
All-Time MEM 80 Bonzi Wells
All-Time MEM 80 James Posey

Biggest Omissions: Bryant Reeves, Stromile Swift

Big Country was a handful during his brief but mildly successful NBA career. Swift wasn't much else besides a dunker, but he would have been an exciting player to control. the Grizzlies don't exactly have a long list of past greats, but Reeves and Swift make my all-time team.

Eye-Popping Inclusions: Scott played one season with the franchise and averaged 10 points per game. Anthony played just two, and they were the best of his career, but I'd take Reeves and Swift over both.

Atlanta Hawks

All-Time ATL 91 Lou Hudson Starter
All-Time ATL 89 Joe Johnson Starter
All-Time ATL 94 Dominique Wilkins Starter
All-Time ATL 95 Bob Pettit Starter
All-Time ATL 92 Dikembe Mutombo Starter
All-Time ATL 87 Kevin Willis
All-Time ATL 87 Steve Smith
All-Time ATL 87 Pete Maravich
All-Time ATL 87 Paul Millsap
All-Time ATL 85 Doc Rivers
All-Time ATL 85 Al Horford
All-Time ATL 85 Jeff Teague
All-Time ATL 84 Kyle Korver
All-Time ATL 81 Stacey Augmon
All-Time ATL 80 Spud Webb

Biggest Omission: Cliff Hagan

By my estimation, Hagan is the third most accomplished player in team history behind Pettit and Wilkins. That should be good enough for this list, but his career began and ended long ago.

Miami Heat

All-Time MIA 88 Tim Hardaway Starter
All-Time MIA 97 Dwyane Wade Starter
All-Time MIA 99 LeBron James Starter
All-Time MIA 88 Chris Bosh Starter
All-Time MIA 94 Alonzo Mourning Starter
All-Time MIA 89 Shaquille O'Neal
All-Time MIA 87 Glen Rice
All-Time MIA 86 Rony Seikaly
All-Time MIA 86 Hassan Whiteside
All-Time MIA 85 Eddie Jones
All-Time MIA 85 P.J. Brown
All-Time MIA 84 Steve Smith
All-Time MIA 83 Udonis Haslem
All-Time MIA 83 Brian Grant
All-Time MIA 82 Dan Majerle

Biggest Omissions: Mario Chalmers

He may have been LeBron and D-Wade's whipping boy, but chalmers played a major role on those four teams that went to the NBA Finals.

Charlotte Hornets

All-Time CHA 86 Kemba Walker Starter
All-Time CHA 88 Eddie Jones Starter
All-Time CHA 89 Glen Rice Starter
All-Time CHA 88 Larry Johnson Starter
All-Time CHA 88 Alonzo Mourning Starter
All-Time CHA 85 Dell Curry
All-Time CHA 86 Al Jefferson
All-Time CHA 85 Muggsy Bogues
All-Time CHA 85 Kendall Gill
All-Time CHA 85 Baron Davis
All-Time CHA 84 Derrick Coleman
All-Time CHA 83 Stephen Jackson
All-Time CHA 83 P.J. Brown
All-Time CHA 81 Raymond Felton
All-Time CHA 80 Kenny Gattison

Biggest Omissions: Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor

Wallace accomplished more than Stephen Jackson as a member of the Charlotte Bobcats, including an All-Star berth. Crash also spent seven seasons with the team compared to just two for Jackson. There has to be a licensing issue here.

Okafor was a solid contributor, defensive and rebounding stalwart for the Bobcats as well. He deserves to be on the team more than Kenny Gattison.

Utah Jazz

All-Time UTA 97 John Stockton Starter
All-Time UTA 95 Pete Maravich Starter
All-Time UTA 92 Adrian Dantley Starter
All-Time UTA 97 Karl Malone Starter
All-Time UTA 89 Mark Eaton Starter
All-Time UTA 89 Deron Williams
All-Time UTA 88 Andrei Kirilenko
All-Time UTA 88 Rudy Gobert
All-Time UTA 88 Gordon Hayward
All-Time UTA 87 Darrell Griffith
All-Time UTA 84 Al Jefferson
All-Time UTA 84 Jeff Hornacek
All-Time UTA 83 Paul Millsap
All-Time UTA 83 Derrick Favors
All-Time UTA 80 Greg Ostertag

Biggest Omissions: Carlos Boozer and Thurl Bailey

Boozer averaged 19.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game over six seasons with Utah. This could be another licensing issue and that makes me a little worried about his inclusion on the 2010-11 Chicago Bulls team. Bailey played 10 seasons with Utah. Only Malone, Stockton and Eaton played more years with the team. He only missed a total of four games in his first nine seasons.

Sacramento Kings

All-Time SAC 97 Oscar Robertson Starter
All-Time SAC 94 Mitch Richmond Starter
All-Time SAC 88 Peja Stojakovic Starter
All-Time SAC 93 Chris Webber Starter
All-Time SAC 94 Jerry Lucas Starter
All-Time SAC 93 Nate Archibald
All-Time SAC 90 DeMarcus Cousins
All-Time SAC 88 Mike Bibby
All-Time SAC 88 Vlade Divac
All-Time SAC 85 Reggie Theus
All-Time SAC 84 Jason Williams
All-Time SAC 84 Antoine Carr
All-Time SAC 83 Rudy Gay
All-Time SAC 83 Tyreke Evans
All-Time SAC 83 Doug Christie

Biggest Omissions: Bob Davies and Jack Twyman

Both of these guys come from the early years of the franchise, but Davies was a four-time All-Star and one of the best point guards in the NBA in the 1950s. Twyman played all 11 seasons with the organization and averaged 19.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. He also made five All-Star teams. Chances are they too were bitten by the recency situation.

New York Knicks

All-Time NY 95 Walt Frazier Starter
All-Time NY 89 Allan Houston Starter
All-Time NY 91 Carmelo Anthony Starter
All-Time NY 94 Willis Reed Starter
All-Time NY 95 Patrick Ewing Starter
All-Time NY 91 Dave Debusschere
All-Time NY 89 Bernard King
All-Time NY 88 Micheal Ray Richardson
All-Time NY 88 John Starks
All-Time NY 88 Amar'e Stoudemire
All-Time NY 87 Dick Barnett
All-Time NY 87 Earl Monroe
All-Time NY 87 Mark Jackson
All-Time NY 86 Charles Oakley
All-Time NY 86 Kristaps Porzingis

Biggest Omissions: Bill Bradley, Harry Gallatin and Carl Braun

Bradley is probably the most underrated player from the quality Knicks teams from the 1970s. He made an All-star team and won two rings.

Eye-Popping Inclusions: Gallatin and Braun are from the early era, but it's hard to accept Stoudemire and Porzingis on this squad.

Stoudemire had one good season with the Knicks. The others were marred by injury or declining skills. Porzingis' best days are ahead, but has he done enough to be considering one of the greatest Knicks of all time?

Los Angeles Lakers

All-Time LAL 99 Magic Johnson Starter
All-Time LAL 97 Jerry West Starter
All-Time LAL 98 Kobe Bryant Starter
All-Time LAL 96 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Starter
All-Time LAL 98 Shaquille O'Neal Starter
All-Time LAL 96 Elgin Baylor
All-Time LAL 95 James Worthy
All-Time LAL 94 George Mikan
All-Time LAL 91 Wilt Chamberlain
All-Time LAL 90 Pau Gasol
All-Time LAL 90 Gail Goodrich
All-Time LAL 87 Jamaal Wilkes
All-Time LAL 87 Byron Scott
All-Time LAL 86 Michael Cooper
All-Time LAL 84 Derek Fisher

There are no major complaints with this roster. There are some stars from the Minneapolis years who aren't here, but for the most part, this is the most complete of all the all-time rosters.

Orlando Magic

All-Time ORL 93 Penny Hardaway Starter
All-Time ORL 95 Tracy McGrady Starter
All-Time ORL 86 Grant Hill Starter
All-Time ORL 93 Dwight Howard Starter
All-Time ORL 93 Shaquille O'Neal Starter
All-Time ORL 85 Nick Anderson
All-Time ORL 85 Jameer Nelson
All-Time ORL 84 Horace Grant
All-Time ORL 84 Dennis Scott
All-Time ORL 83 Steve Francis
All-Time ORL 82 Darrell Armstrong
All-Time ORL 82 Nikola Vucevic
All-Time ORL 81 Brian Shaw
All-Time ORL 80 Bo Outlaw
All-Time ORL 80 Aaron Gordon

Biggest Omissions: Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis

The ultra versatile Turkoglu was a key player for the Magic team that reached the NBA Finals in 2009. The same could be said for Lewis who averaged 17.7 points and made the All-Star team that season.

Eye-Popping Inclusions: Francis only played two seasons with the Magic. He was solid during that time, but hardly worthy of a spot on this team. Aaron Gordon put on the best display I've ever seen in a dunk contest, but his career averages over three seasons are 9.7 ppg and 5.3 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks

All-Time DAL 87 Derek Harper Starter
All-Time DAL 88 Rolando Blackman Starter
All-Time DAL 88 Mark Aguirre Starter
All-Time DAL 97 Dirk Nowitzki Starter
All-Time DAL 82 Shawn Bradley Starter
All-Time DAL 88 Jim Jackson
All-Time DAL 88 Jason Terry
All-Time DAL 88 Michael Finley
All-Time DAL 88 Jamal Mashburn
All-Time DAL 86 Steve Nash
All-Time DAL 86 Jason Kidd
All-Time DAL 82 Tyson Chandler
All-Time DAL 81 Sam Perkins
All-Time DAL 80 J.J. Barea
All-Time DAL 80 Brendan Haywood

Biggest Omission: Roy Tarpley

A bevy of personal issues shortened Tarpley's career. He died tragically in 2015. Perhaps there were issues with licensing or other problems including him in the game.

Eye-Popping Inclusion: In three years, Haywood averaged 5.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. It would be nice to slide Tarpley into this spot.

Brooklyn Nets

All-Time BKN 95 Jason Kidd Starter
All-Time BKN 90 Drazen Petrovic Starter
All-Time BKN 97 Julius Erving Starter
All-Time BKN 88 Buck Williams Starter
All-Time BKN 87 Brook Lopez Starter
All-Time BKN 89 Vince Carter
All-Time BKN 87 Richard Jefferson
All-Time BKN 87 Derrick Coleman
All-Time BKN 87 Joe Johnson
All-Time BKN 87 Deron Williams
All-Time BKN 86 Kenyon Martin
All-Time BKN 86 Devin Harris
All-Time BKN 86 Kenny Anderson
All-Time BKN 86 Kendall Gill
All-Time BKN 86 Keith Van Horn

Biggest Omissions: Bill Melchionni and Billy Paultz

While most every player included on the Nets all-time roster are plausible additions, Melchionni and Paultz still get slighted. It could be another recency issue, but Melchionni averaged 12 points and six assists during his Nets career. He won two rings with the franchise in the ABA and made three All-Star teams.

Paultz won a ring and made two All-star teams and he was a premier shot blocker for the team as well.

Denver Nuggets

All-Time DEN 90 Fat Lever Starter
All-Time DEN 95 David Thompson Starter
All-Time DEN 93 Alex English Starter
All-Time DEN 94 Carmelo Anthony Starter
All-Time DEN 92 Dan Issel Starter
All-Time DEN 90 Allen Iverson
All-Time DEN 89 Dikembe Mutombo
All-Time DEN 89 Kiki Vandeweghe
All-Time DEN 88 Antonio McDyess
All-Time DEN 86 Nick Van Exel
All-Time DEN 86 Chauncey Billups
All-Time DEN 86 Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
All-Time DEN 84 Laphonso Ellis
All-Time DEN 82 Nenê
All-Time DEN 81 Danilo Gallinari

Biggest Omissions: Ralph Simpson, Larry Jones, Bobby Jones

Where is the love for India.Arie's dad? That's a little known fact, Simpson is the father of the talented R&B singer, but he was also a heck of a basketball player. He's the third most accomplished player in Nuggets history according to my FPVR formula. He made five All-Star teams, went to the ABA Finals, made three All-ABA teams while playing seven seasons with the franchise. He should be there over Ellis, Gallinari, Abdul-Rauf and McDyess.

The same can be said for Larry Jones (25.4 ppg in three seasons) and Bobby Jones (one of the best overall defenders in NBA/ABA history).

Indiana Pacers

All-Time IND 85 Mark Jackson Starter
All-Time IND 88 Ron Artest Starter
All-Time IND 91 Paul George Starter
All-Time IND 90 Jermaine O'Neal Starter
All-Time IND 87 Rik Smits Starter
All-Time IND 89 George McGinnis
All-Time IND 87 Chuck Person
All-Time IND 86 Jalen Rose
All-Time IND 86 Roy Hibbert
All-Time IND 85 Herb Williams
All-Time IND 84 Antonio Davis
All-Time IND 84 Detlef Schrempf
All-Time IND 84 David West
All-Time IND 83 Lance Stephenson
All-Time IND 82 George Hill

Biggest Omissions: Reggie Miller, Mel Daniels, Roger Brown, Bob Netolicky and Freddie Lewis

The Pacers all-time roster is the most incomplete of all the teams. The issues getting Miller licensed have been discussed before. He and Barkley are arguably the most-requested stars who aren't in the game. However, by my estimation, Mel Daniels is still the greatest player in Pacers history. He passed away in 2015, but anyone who ever had an opportunity to watch the ABA knows the Pacers were a dominant team and Daniels was a major reason for that dominance. Perhaps there was an issue getting the players from the great ABA teams.

Brown, Netolicky and Lewis are all in that same category.

New Orleans Pelicans

All-Time NO 96 Chris Paul Starter
All-Time NO 90 Baron Davis Starter
All-Time NO 89 Jamal Mashburn Starter
All-Time NO 88 David West Starter
All-Time NO 92 Anthony Davis Starter
All-Time NO 88 DeMarcus Cousins
All-Time NO 84 David Wesley
All-Time NO 83 Tyson Chandler
All-Time NO 82 Peja Stojakovic
All-Time NO 82 Ryan Anderson
All-Time NO 81 Eric Gordon
All-Time NO 81 Jrue Holiday
All-Time NO 81 Tyreke Evans
All-Time NO 80 Trevor Ariza
All-Time NO 80 J.R. Smith

Eye-Popping Inclusion: DeMarcus Cousins is great, but he played 17 games with the Pelicans. Too soon.

Detroit Pistons

All-Time DET 96 Isiah Thomas Starter
All-Time DET 93 Joe Dumars Starter
All-Time DET 93 Grant Hill Starter
All-Time DET 89 Ben Wallace Starter
All-Time DET 93 Bob Lanier Starter
All-Time DET 91 Chauncey Billups
All-Time DET 89 Jerry Stackhouse
All-Time DET 89 Richard Hamilton
All-Time DET 89 Dave Debusschere
All-Time DET 89 Dave Bing
All-Time DET 89 Dennis Rodman
All-Time DET 87 Bill Laimbeer
All-Time DET 85 Andre Drummond
All-Time DET 83 Vinnie Johnson
All-Time DET 80 Rick Mahorn

Biggest Omission: Tayshaun Prince

Prince played 12 seasons for the Pistons and was the glue guy for the 2004 championship team. Some will scream for Rasheed Wallace to be included on this roster, and I get it. Wallace isn't included as there appears to be a licensing issue with him as well. However, I think he belongs more on the Portland Trail Blazers team. Aside from that, the Pistons' roster isn't too bad.

Toronto Raptors

All-Time TOR 88 Kyle Lowry Starter
All-Time TOR 89 DeMar DeRozan Starter
All-Time TOR 95 Vince Carter Starter
All-Time TOR 92 Chris Bosh Starter
All-Time TOR 85 Antonio Davis Starter
All-Time TOR 86 Damon Stoudamire
All-Time TOR 84 Tracy McGrady
All-Time TOR 84 Morris Peterson
All-Time TOR 84 Jose Calderon
All-Time TOR 84 Doug Christie
All-Time TOR 81 Jonas Valanciunas
All-Time TOR 81 Louis Williams
All-Time TOR 80 Amir Johnson
All-Time TOR 80 Terrence Ross
All-Time TOR 80 Alvin Williams

Biggest Omission: Andrea Bargnani

While he never made an All-Star team after being selected No. 1 overall in 2006, Bargnani still played seven seasons with Toronto and averaged 15.2 points per game. I'd take him over T-Mac here. McGrady turned out to be a better player obviously, but he only averaged 11 points per game in his career with Toronto before he bolted and became a superstar with the Orlando Magic.

Houston Rockets

All-Time HOU 94 James Harden Starter
All-Time HOU 91 Tracy McGrady Starter
All-Time HOU 91 Clyde Drexler Starter
All-Time HOU 98 Hakeem Olajuwon Starter
All-Time HOU 92 Ming Yao Starter
All-Time HOU 90 Calvin Murphy
All-Time HOU 89 Ralph Sampson
All-Time HOU 88 Steve Francis
All-Time HOU 88 Elvin Hayes
All-Time HOU 86 Kenny Smith
All-Time HOU 85 Otis Thorpe
All-Time HOU 83 Cuttino Mobley
All-Time HOU 83 Vernon Maxwell
All-Time HOU 81 Patrick Beverley
All-Time HOU 81 Robert Horry

Biggest Omissions: Moses Malone and Rudy Tomjanovich

Credit: James Drake - Getty

Malone's best statistical years in the NBA came with the Rockets. Tomjanovich played 10 years with the Rockets (his entire career) and averaged 17.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He also made five All-Star teams. He should be on this team ahead of Patrick Beverley and Cuttino Mobley.

San Antonio Spurs

All-Time SA 94 Tony Parker Starter
All-Time SA 96 George Gervin Starter
All-Time SA 94 Kawhi Leonard Starter
All-Time SA 98 Tim Duncan Starter
All-Time SA 96 David Robinson Starter
All-Time SA 93 Manu Ginobili
All-Time SA 87 Sean Elliott
All-Time SA 86 LaMarcus Aldridge
All-Time SA 86 Bruce Bowen
All-Time SA 85 Artis Gilmore
All-Time SA 84 Dennis Rodman
All-Time SA 83 Avery Johnson
All-Time SA 83 Danny Green
All-Time SA 81 Vinny Del Negro
All-Time SA 80 Robert Horry

I like the Spurs roster, though it's missing some ABA contributors. Anyone wondering why Alvin Robertson isn't in the game, this is probably the reason.

Phoenix Suns

All-Time PHX 96 Steve Nash Starter
All-Time PHX 88 Paul Westphal Starter
All-Time PHX 90 Shawn Marion Starter
All-Time PHX 89 Tom Chambers Starter
All-Time PHX 91 Amar'e Stoudemire Starter
All-Time PHX 92 Dennis Johnson
All-Time PHX 90 Kevin Johnson
All-Time PHX 88 Jason Kidd
All-Time PHX 88 Connie Hawkins
All-Time PHX 88 Larry Nance
All-Time PHX 87 Dan Majerle
All-Time PHX 86 Jeff Hornacek
All-Time PHX 86 Goran Dragic
All-Time PHX 84 Leandro Barbosa
All-Time PHX 84 Cedric Ceballos

Biggest Omission: Charles Barkley, Walter Davis

We know about Barkley's situation, but why isn't the Greyhound on the team? Davis averaged 20 points per game over 11 seasons with the Suns. He should be there over Ceballos and Barbosa. Also, Kidd's best statistical years were with the Suns. His highest rating should be with this team.

Oklahoma City Thunder

All-Time OKC 94 Gary Payton Starter
All-Time OKC 94 Russell Westbrook Starter
All-Time OKC 95 Ray Allen Starter
All-Time OKC 97 Kevin Durant Starter
All-Time OKC 89 Shawn Kemp Starter
All-Time OKC 89 Spencer Haywood
All-Time OKC 89 Dennis Johnson
All-Time OKC 89 Jack Sikma
All-Time OKC 88 Dale Ellis
All-Time OKC 87 James Harden
All-Time OKC 87 Xavier McDaniel
All-Time OKC 87 Lenny Wilkens
All-Time OKC 87 Tom Chambers
All-Time OKC 87 Detlef Schrempf
All-Time OKC 86 Serge Ibaka

Biggest Omission: Gus Williams and Fred Brown

The Wizard was part of the elite backcourt that helped lead the Seattle Supersonics to the NBA championship in 1979. Harden was a really good player for the Thunder, but I'd put Williams and Brown over him on this team.

Minnesota Timberwolves

All-Time MIN 87 Sam Cassell Starter
All-Time MIN 86 Andrew Wiggins Starter
All-Time MIN 85 Wally Szczerbiak Starter
All-Time MIN 91 Kevin Love Starter
All-Time MIN 97 Kevin Garnett Starter
All-Time MIN 91 Karl-Anthony Towns
All-Time MIN 88 Al Jefferson
All-Time MIN 87 Stephon Marbury
All-Time MIN 86 Terrell Brandon
All-Time MIN 85 Isaiah Rider
All-Time MIN 84 Ricky Rubio
All-Time MIN 83 Christian Laettner
All-Time MIN 83 Latrell Sprewell
All-Time MIN 82 Zach LaVine
All-Time MIN 80 Trenton Hassell

Biggest Omissions: Tom Gugliotta and Sam Mitchell

Googs is one of the most forgotten stars from the 1990s. In four seasons with the Wolves, Gugliotta scored 18.2 points per game and made his only All-Star team. Mitchell never had huge years, but he played 10 years with the team. I'd take him over Hassell and Gugliotta over LaVine.

Portland Trail Blazers

All-Time POR 89 Damian Lillard Starter
All-Time POR 96 Clyde Drexler Starter
All-Time POR 87 Jerome Kersey Starter
All-Time POR 89 LaMarcus Aldridge Starter

Biggest Omission: Brandon Roy, Maurice Lucas

Roy's career was cut short, but in his five seasons with the organization, he ranks as the ninth-best Blazer in history on the FPVR. His omission is likely due to a licensing issue.

Lucas is even higher. He helped the Blazers win their only championship in 1977 and he also averaged 15 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. I'd take him over Isaiah Rider and Nicolas Batum.

Biggest Omissions: Paul Arizin and Neil Johnston

I know the new Warriors are all the rage right now, but both Arizin and Johnston were mega stars in their day. They lose out to recency here.

Eye-Popping Inclusion:

It was one heck of a season for Durant, but he's still only been with the team for a year.

Biggest Omission: Gilbert Arenas, Gus Johnson, Walt Bellamy and Phil Chenier

Arenas' absence is likely due to his banishment from the NBA. There's no doubt he'd be here if that weren't the case. Johnson, Bellamy and Chenier probably lose out to recency and simply being underrated. As cool as it will be to see Bol and Muresan, Johnson and Bellamy deserve their spots. Chenier could  be in over Chapman, Hughes and especially Porter.

He's had one good season in the NBA which is miniscule when compared to Chenier's tenure with the organization.

Overall, 2K did a fantastic job providing this feature. We don't know what parameters they had to work between to deliver such a huge roster addition, but it's one hoops historians should appreciate.
